This letter is to establish procedures for handling Government owned SNM contained in the NDA standards used by NRC inspectors.
The NRC is solely responsible for these standards. Al though the standards may be stored in a secured area within your facility, they are exempt from regulatory requirements.
Therefore, you are not required to:
1.
Document shipment or receipt of such material; 2.
Carry the material on. your inventory; or 3.
Include the material on the physical inventory listing.
t When the material is deposited in your storage area, you should:
1.
Issue a receipt to the NRC inspectors; and 2.
Keep the material segregated from all other material in the area.
When the NRC inspectors retrieve the material, the receipt should be returned.
