Conditions Prior to Occurrence.:
Unit 2 operating at 100 percent power. Unit 3 operatin,t at 90 percent power.

M The recirc E set room fire detection mtem on both units was disabled CD on the morning of 1/30/79 so that notification work could proceed in the

area. A fire watch was pcsted at that tine. When the work in thes.?
g t.o areas was completed fo the day at ricet 4 IH, the working group g
failed to notify the shift that they wre firished for the day. The o
fire watch left the room when the days work v.ts completed. Late on the G
ne::t shift as part of a normal surveillance of the area, the operating O
shift noticed the error and insediately restored the fire detection system to normal. Since this area is routinelt inspected by shift penonnel. the safety significance of this eret t is sinimal.

The fire detection system was placed back in service imediately upon discovery of this event.
A meeting was stbsequently held with super-vision c.f the working group involved with this occurrence.
They were instructad in the importance of notifying shift supervision when woriing under the above conditions so that shift personnel can take appropriate reradial action.
