6) Serial neve-265-78, dated December 15, 1978 The referenced letters and this letter are interin 50 55(e) reports. In reference 1 it was reported that the local pipe stresses at the point of the ancher attach =cnt to ;ne spray piping may exceed Ccde allevables. In reference 6, it was reported that the expected result of the evaluation vould be that the reactor building spray anchors and system piping vculd be utilized as is in that the allevable stresses vould not be exceeded.

Recent correspondence frcm ITT Grinnell revealed that six anchors, for each unit, have been shcun to have stresses approximately 6% over Code allowables . This ecndition exists at the veld joint between the anchor and the Bechtel supplied structural suppcrt extending frcm the ecntainment dcme. The previcusly determined actual time history water ha=er lcadinE curves will new be applied to =cre closely provide the actual leadings that veuld be experienced by the anchors still in cuestion. As reported in references 4 and 5, an enclysis in accordance with AS"Z Section III, Appendix F is not being pursued.
