Response to NRC IE Bulletin 79-28 This bulletin describes elevated temperature effects which were found to degrade the performance of a specific group of NAMCO Model EA-180 valve stem mounted limit switches.
Design Engineering has determined tha the referenced Model NAMCO switch has not been specified, pur-chased, or installed on any present designs.
Existing valve monitoring circuits employ the NAMCO Model EA-740 limit switch which is a more versatile can operated model as compared to the latch operated EA-180.
Consideration of future procurements is not warranted since our current and potential valve suppliers have by design based their valve position indicating feature on the use of cam operated switches.
