(Trojan Nuc1 car Plant)
Docket No. 50-344 (Control Building)
Centlemen:
Since my letter to you of January 4, 1980, the Staff's detailed review of the Licensee's November 21, December 17, 21 and 22, 1979 responses to Staff questions has been substantially completed.
In addition, drafts of those portions of the Staff's Safety Evaluation Report (SER) dealing with the safety of operation during performance of the modification work, as well as other portions of the SER cxcept for the structural analysis, have been completed and are undergoing internal Staff review.
Drafts of the structural evaluation portion of the SER have not been completed as of this date but are expected to be completed shortly.
Information presented by the Licensee in the responses referenced above has resulted in the resolution of a number of items previously identified by the Staff as being unresolved.
However, until drafts of all portions of the SER are completed, we are unable to state whether all previously identified unresolved items have been satisfactorily resalsed.
In any event, any items that have not been resolved to the Staff's satisfaction will Le identified in detail and their effects on the Staff conclusion with regard to the adequacy of the proposed modifications will be set forth in the SER that will be issued on February 14, 1980.
Sincerely, l
l os7ph R. Gra Counsel for NRC Staff
