Grand Gulf Nuclear Station File 0270/15521/15525 PRD-79/03, Status Report #3 Failure to Implement Proper Qi Procedures Ar.d-80/34 On February 12, 1979, Mississippi Power & Light Company notified Mr. J. K. Rausch of your office of a potentially reportable deficiency at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station construction site.
The deficiency concerns General Electric's failure to establish and implanent an approved Quality Assurance Program for electrical work performed under Field Deviation Disposition Requests (FDDR) and Field Deviation Instructions (FDI).
The GE subcontractor, I & SE, now follows the procedures and practices in accordance with an upgraded quality assurance manual, QA-477-01/ Addendum I.
The re-inspection of subject equipment and electrical work is continuing. The completion of this investigation and engineering evaluation of safety implications is scheduled for May, 1980.
We expect to submit a determination of reportability and final report on this deficiency by May 31, 1980.
