PLATTEVILLE, COLOR ADO 80651 January 29, 1980 Fort St. Vrain Unit No. 1 P-80011 Mr. Brian K. Grimes Director Emergency Preparedness Task Group Office of Nuclear Regulations U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.

20535 Docket No. 50-267 Sub; act :

Request for Evacuation Time Estimates

Reference:

NRC Letter to All Reactor Licensees, November 29, 1979

Dear Mr. Grimes:

Along with much of the other corresppndence from the NRC concerning TMI-2 and emergency planning, we did not receive the above referenced letter as a part of your normal distribution. We were handed a copy of your Novei)er 29 letter at a meeting with our NRC Project Manager on January 8, 1980.

Because of the distinct differences and inherent aafety features of Fort St. Vrain versus LWR's we are presently developing justification for reducing our EPZ f rom the ten (10) mile EPZ required for LWR's.

In view of our late receipt of your request and our evaluation con-cerning the EPZ, it is impossible to supply the information requested by January 31, 1980. We are presently developing the information requested, but we will not be in a position to respond to your request until March 7, 1980 Very truly yours, B. ma Don W.
