I.
Introduction and Organization The Arnold Greene Testing Laboratories is a user of sealed sources'of by-product material for Industrial I
Radiographic Inspection.
In all cases, sealed sources are being used in Radi.ographic Exposure Devices and shipping containers approved by N.R.C.
The' President'has the, responsibility for the organizations adherence to the Quality Control requirements and is

delegated to assure compliance with the requirements of a
the Quality Assurance Program.
l The Radiation Protection Officer is responsible for over-all administra. tion of the Program, Training and Certif-ication Document Control and Auditing.
Radiographic personnel trained and certified by the Radiation Protection Officer may be delegated to assist in shipping, stori'ng and records kee' ping duties involved in shipments of'by-product material.
II.
Quality Assurance Program I
The Radiation Protection Officer shall assure that all radioactive material shipping containers are designed and manufactured under a Q..\\. Program approved by N.R.C.
for all packages designed or fabricated after July 1, 1978.
This requirement is satisfied by receipt and retention of appropriate certificates of compliance (N.R.C.-618).

will additionally implement a Q.A. Program to assure that i
all safety related precautionary measures are complied i
with.
The status and adequacy of the program will be reviewed on an annual basis.
Major e=phasis will be placed I on specific safety controls related to preparation and l
shipment of sealed sources.
III.
Document Control All documents relating to the Receipt, Disposition and Transfer,of sealed sources will be controlled through established procedures.
Document changes will be initiated l
according to written procedures.
The R.S.O.
is responsible to assure that all Q.A.
functions are conducted in ac-I cordance with latest applicable documents.

IV.
Handling, Storage and Shipping i
The use, storage and shipment of sealed source will be controlled.by established procedure.
Shipments prepared for transport will be made in accordance with required tests, surveys,. certifications and packaging procedures.
All personnel assisting in the critical handling, storage and shipping operations will be trained and certified by the Radiation Protection Officer..
t V.
Inspections, Tests and Operating Status Procedures are established to Inspect, Test and Operate Radiographic devices.
Logs, labels and tags will be used to clearly indicate the status'of these functions.
Radiographic personnel shall perform the regulatory re-

quired inspections and tests, in accordance with written
~
procedures.
The R.P.O.
shall ensure-that these functions are performed.
VI.
Quality Assurance Records Utilization Logs and Records of Inspections, Tests, Audits, Personnel Training and Shipments,will be maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements.
These records will be maintained in accordance with written procedures.
They will be identified and retrievable.
A list of these records with storage locations will be maintained.
VII.
Audits k
Audits will be conducted at a frequency dependent on the safety significance of the activity being audited.
Each I
activity will be audited at least once per year.
Audit l
Reports will be maintained as part of the Q.A. Records.

The Auditor shall have no responsibility in the Q.A.
Departnent.
Results of audits will be reviewed and ev-aluated by the General Manager.
Deficiencies will be recorded and assigned for corrective action.
