December 4,1979 Mr. Jerome Saltzman, Deputy Chief Office of Antitrust & Indemnity Directorate of Licensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555

Dear Mr. Saltzman:

Re: Notice of Claim Jon Robert Hickey vs.

Chem-Nuclear Systems, Inc., et al (under SMUD policies)

D/L October 23, 1978 This will advise that we have received a Complaint in the captioned matter, alleging bodily injury, mental suffering, medical expenses and loss of earnings by Mr. Hickey, an employee of Sacramento Municipal Utility District (Ranche Seco).

Chem-Nuclear, as an independent contractor, was supervising and directing work being done by SMUD employees on a liquid radwaste system which is alleged to have had a radiation leak. Also included as defendants are the unnamed parties who designed, manufactured, distributed and sold the allegedly defective part.

The suit is currently in the Superior Court, Sacramento County, California.

Ver truly yours,
