PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-282 License No. DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Environmental Event Report 79-11 Cooling Tower Operations - November Unde r TS B-5.4.2. A, we are furnishing two copies of this Environmental Event Report covering operation of the plant circulating water system in part ial recycle and helper cycle modes with daily average blowdown flow in excess of 150 cfs.
During the month of November daily average blowdown flow in excess of 150 cfs was required for 17 consecutive days beginning on November 4 Th e
+xcess ranged from a low of 678 cfs (partial recycle) on November 4 to a
.. aximum of 1500 c f s (helper cycle) on November 7 and 8.
The excess blowdown flow for the 17 day period wat required to conduct the special chlorination treatment of the circulating water system authorized by the November 2, 1979 change to the Environmental Technical Specifications.
All aspects of the special chlorination treatment were as described in Exh ib i t C of the NSP amendment req ue s t letter dated October 30, 1979.
