NOV 2 71979 Docket No. 50-339 APPLICANT:
Virginia Electric and Power Company FACILITY:
North Anna Power Station, Unit 2
SUBJECT:
SuttMARY OF NOVEMBER 20, 1979 MEETING TO DISCUSS MATTERS RELATED TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATIONS OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AS IT RELATES TO THE NORTH ANNA POWER STATION, UNIT 2 We met with representatives of the Virginia Electric and Power Company to discuss matters related to the environmental qualifications of the Rose-mount Model 1152 Differential Pressure Transmitters used at the North Anna Power Station, Unit 2.
A list of atteadees is presented in the enclosure.
Significant points discussed are summarized below:
1.
VEPC0 advised us that because of some of the results obtained by Westinghouse during the last half of 1976, while conducting the sensor Qualification Program, VEPC0 undertook with the cooperation of Westing-house and Rosemount Inc. to test Model 1152 Differential Pressure Transmitters operational performance under the Westinghouse Trip and Severe Environment Test requirements.
The Rosemount flodel 1152 transmitters had previously been tested satisfactorily for all environmental condition.e except for chemical spray during the temperature-pressure severe environment tests and the differences in the test envelope. They indicated that previous test information is contained in Rosemount Report No. 117415.
2.
VEPC0 indicated that tests were performed on two different groups of Rosemount production Model 1152 transmitters at different times, each group consisted of three transmitters.
Description of the units are as follows:

VEPC0 indicated that two of the three Model 1152 transmitters in Group I failed approximately 43 hours4.976852e-4 days
0.0119 hours
7.109788e-5 weeks
1.63615e-5 months
into the test. Their evaluation showed the cause to be the failure of plastic pack diodes used as polarity protectors for the electronic cards.
The Group II transmitters were later tested using glass pack diodes and stainless steel housings. All three Group II transmitters successfully completed the 15 day trip and severe environmental test. Radiation effects were not taken into account in this test.
VEPC0 further indicated that the test data shows the maximum transmitter error early in the test was approximately 55 minutes into the test and was approximately -8.0 percer.t. One transmitter had an error of -14 percent at 13 days, but the other two transmitters indicated less than 2 percent error at that time.
4.
VEPC0 indicated that EYS connectors were used in the installed test apparatus.
We advised VEPC0 that they should submit additional informa-
. tion which would describe these connectors. We also indicated to VEPC0 1510 316
4,
. NOV 271979 that we would in the very near future advise them of our position regard-ing the testing of the Rosemount Model 1152 differential pressure transmitters.
