7590-01 UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COM"ISSION DOCKET NO. 50-272 PUBLIC SERVICE ELECTRIC AND GAS COM.PANY, PHILADELPHIA ELECTRIC COMPANY, DELMARVA POWER AND LIGHT CCMP ANY, AND ATLANTIC CITY ELECTRIC CCMPANY NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Cormiission (the Comission) has issued Amendment No. 22 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-70, issued to Public Service Electric and Gas Company, Philadelphia Electric Company, Delmarva Power and Light Company and Atlantic City Electric Company (the licensees), wnich revised Facility Operating License No. DPR-70 for operation of the Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Unit No.1 (the facility) located in Salem County, New Jersey. The amendment is effective as of the date of issuance.

The amencment deletes Section 2.C(3) thereby lifting a restriction on auxiliary feedwater level rise rate whenever the secondary water level in a steam generator is below the level of the feecwater sparger.

The application for the amendment complies with the standards and recuirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Comission's rules and regulations. The Comission has made appropriate fincings as required by the Act and the Comission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chacter I, whicn are set forth in

ne license amendment. Prior puolic notice of nis trencrent was not recuirec since the amencment does not invcive a significant hazarcs consiceration.

7590-01 The Comission has determined that the issuance of this amendment vill not result in any significant environmentel impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR 51.5(d)(4) an environmental impact statement or negative declaration and environmental impact appraisal aed not be prepared in connection with issuance of this amendment.

For further details with respect to this action, see (1) Amendment No. 22 to License No. DPR-70, and (2) the Comission's related Safety Evaluation.
