SUBJECT:

PROGRESS REPORT FROM SOUTH CAROLINA ON TRANSPORTATION SURVEILLANCE PROGRAM Enclosed is a progress report submitted by South Carolina on its transportation surveillance program under contract with NRC and DOT.

The report covers cumulative data for work performed during the twelve months of the second year of the contract -- October 1,1978 to Sep-tember 30, 1979.

I am inclined to suggest to South Carolina that they not make their figures cumulative from one quarter to the next.

This would eliminate the necessity of checking the previous repc-t in order to determine what data they acquired during the current quartar.

The cumulative statistics are more appropriate for the final report summarizing the year's work.

Your comments on previous reports were sent to South Carolina and I expect that they will be taken into consideration in future reporting.

If you have any comments, I would apprec' ate receiving them.
