I= mediate Reoort of Recortable Occurrence This letter is a followup to a report made by Mr. W. S. Orser, Engineering Supervisor, to Mr. M. H. Malmros, NRC Resident Inspector, at 2:30 PM, Friday, October 19, 1979 concerning a situation where the plant effluent pH was above the limit of 9.0 for approximately three minutes on Thursday, October 18, 1979 at about 4: 30 PM.
The maximum pH observed was 9.2.
As a result of this occurrence, Paragraph 2.2.4 of the Trojan Environmental Technical Specification was violated. The exact cause of the pH spike has not yet been determined.
This occurrence will be reported to the Nuclear Regulatory Ccamission as a Licensee Event Report in accordance wir:: our established technical specifi-cations.
