Dear Sirs:

Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-289 Operating License No. DPR 50 Nonroutine Seven-Day Environmental Report 75-01 In accordance with Section 5.6.2.b.3) cf the Environmental Technical Specifi-cations for our Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 1 (TMI-1), we are hereby informing you that we have received preliminary notification from one of our consultants that analyses for tritium in two separate composite surface river water sa ples for the month of April,1975, indicate tritium levels in excess of ten times the respective control station values. Although the subject noti-fication was only preliminary, it should be noted that initial calculations have led tc a determination that the subject levels do not constitute a threat to the health and safety of the public for reasons as follows:

1.

The concentrations, although at reportable levels, are less than 5% of the applicable Maximum Permissible Concentration (MPC), and 2.

None of the TMI-1 Technical Specification limits were exceeded.

Further, please be advised that we vill submit a comp ute report to address all the reporting require =ents of Section 5.6.2.b.3) of the TMI-1 Environmental Tech-nical Specifications vi^ tn seven days of receipt of our consultant's complete report.(Note: It is presently anticipated that this report vill be received by June 2, 1975)

Sincerely, O
