Dear Mr. Denton:

This is in response to your letter dated September 17, 1979 concerning a potential unreviewed safety question on inter-action between non-safety grade systems and safety grade systems.

Humboldt Bay Power Plant Unit No. 3 has remained shutdown in accordance with the terms of the NRC order of May 21, 1976, as amended on December 30, 1976, pending the resolution of certain geologic and seismic issues as described in the letter from Mr. E.

G. Case dated August 5, 1977.

We are now evaluating the interaction of safety and non-safety grade systems as requested in your letter and plan to submit the results of this evaluation by November 15, 1979.
