l I HAVE REEN INFOGMED BY REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CONSUMERS POWER (DPPANY THAT YOUR COMMISSION HAS OR MAY CQNSIDER INTERRUPTING THE '

OPERATING LIC ENS ING REVIEW PROCESS FOR THE MIDLAND NUCLEAR POWER  !

PLANT NOW REING CARRIED OUT 9Y STAFF OF ThE NRC. I UNDERSMAND THAT l THE INTERRUPTION IS 9ASED ON STAFFING LIMITATIONS AND IS NOT RELATED To SAFFTY ISSUES. APPARENTLY, NRC STAFF 9ELIEVE SUCH A DELAY WOULD ar WITHOUT ADVERSE IMPACT AND JS RASED ON STAFF ANALYSIS THAT THE PLANT WILL NOT 9E COMPLETED ON SCHEDULE. HOWEVER, CONSUMERS POWER IND IC ATES THAT THE PPOPOSED PLANT WILL BE COMPLETED AS SCHEDULED -AND A LICENSING INTERRUPTION WOULD SIGNIFICANTLY DELAY PLANT OPERATION.
