LaSalle County Station Unit 2 Vent Stack NRC Docket Nos. 50-373/374
Dear Mr. Keppler:
Coc:monwealth Edison notified your office on May 8, 1979 of a possible deficiency in the steel ventilation stack at LaSalle County Station.
That notification was made in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55 (e).
This letter fulfills the 30-day reporting requirement impos M by that regulation.
As was reported, defects identified in the bottcsa ring of the stack led to the comprehensive non-destructive examination of the affected areas of the stack.
A stmaury of the results of the inspection conducted is provided as an attachment to this letter.
Although it has been determined that no i::nnediate remedial. action is required, the permanent repair or re-enforcement of the vent stack is now being studied.
It is expected that a final report on this deficiency can be provided by October 1, 1979 at which time sufficient evaluation of alternative modification schemes will have been ccznpleted, s
