Dear Mr Keppler:

PRAIRIE ISLiND NUCLEAR GENERATING PL\\NT Docket No. 50-282 License No. DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Environmental Event Report 79-04 Cooline Tower Ooerations - Mav Under TS B-5.4.2.A, we are furnishing two copies of this Environmental Event Report covering operation of the plant circulating water system in the partial recycle mode with daily average blowdown flow in excess of 150 cfs.

Daily average blowdown flow in excess of 150 cfs was required 17 days during the month of May discounting May 1 and 2 when prevailing high water conditions did not allow blowdown flow measurement (see EER 79-03).

The slightly higher flows were required to accommodate cooling tower preventative mafutenance and to maintain cooling water inlet temperatures at less than 85 F.

The axim elevated flow of 284 cfs occurred on May 29.

Yours very truly, E C Ward, PE 2284 128 Manager - Nuclear Environmental Services EC1/jh cc:
