Enclosed herewith are copies of a report entitled "New England Power Company Velocity Cap Fish Entrapment Assessment, Phase II, Comparative Study".
This report was prepared by Coastal Zone Consultants of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
Operational velocity cap intakes in southern California and Florida are examined in the report with respect to design criteria, operational conditions and the faunas exposed to them.
Those New England fishes and invertebrates identified as Representative Important Species by the United States Environ-mental Protection Agency are paired with ecologically similar species occurring in Florida and/or southern California.
The life histories of the paired species are examined in detail, and evaluated relative to entrapment records of the California and Florida equivalent species.
From this information, estimates of the relative entrapment potential for the NEP 162 RIS were developed.
