Following are our responses to questions posed by IE Bulletin 79-07 concerning seismic stress an=1ysis of safety related piping.

1) None of the methods specified were used in the design of Calvert Cliffs piping.
2) Not applicable.

3) Consputer codes and verification. methods used in seismic stress analysis of safety related piping are:

The codirectional ccmponents of force or marament from one horizontal and the vertical directions of' excitation were combined by absolute sumation to define the seismic loading condition at the particular niping location for one horizontal and the vertical excitations. A second seismic loading condition was also defined by repeating the absolute sum conbination for the other horizontal and the vertical excitations. Each load set was compared to. and shown to be less r,overning than, the seismic loadings specified for design of the piping. The load combinations were calculated and verified by hand.
