Dear Mr. Baldwin:
This letter is to acknowledge receipt of your request under 10 CFR 2.206 to suspend activities under License No. SNM-960, Docket No.70-754 for activities at the General Electric Company's Vallecitos Nuclear Center and remove all plutonium from the site.
Congressmen Ronald V. Dellums and John Burton, California Assemblyman Thomas Bates, and other California residents joined your request.
The Friends of the Earth and the other petitioners are also requesting that the Commission hold public hearings regarding seismic conditions at the site before plutonium is returned to and activities resumed at the site and production and delivery to Friends of the Earth of an inventory of radioactive materials and structural analyses of buildings containing radioactive materials at the Vallecitos site.
Your request is currently being considered under 10 CFR 2.206 of the Commission's regulations. We will inform you of our decision within a reasonable time.
I enclose for your information a copy of the notice that is being filed for publication with the Office of the Federal Register.
