Davis Acting Director Office of Inspection and Enforcement Docket No(s).:
50-322/516/517 Gentlemen:
l For several weeks I have puzzled over your letter of December 6, 1978 regarding the accuracy and completeness of information submitted to NRC.
The puzzle has been whether this letter was a general restatement of policy routinely sent to all applicants and licensees, or whether we have been deficient in our submittals and the letter was intended to call this to my attention.
It is my understanding that we have been both complete and accurate in our submittals and prompt in correcting errors when discovered.
This has again been confirmed by my sub-ordinates.
If this is not your impression of the situation, I would like to hear from you again, possibly citing examples of deficiencies.
On the other hand, if the December 6 letter was a routine policy restatement with no particular focus on Long Island Lighting Company, no reply is necessary.
I want to assure you that it is our policy to make accurate and complete reports to all regulatory agencies and that any weaknesses coming to my attention will be promptly corrected.
Very truly yours, Wilfred O.
