December 28, 1978 OFFICE OF THE CHAIRMAN Mrs. Ruth Wukasch 6457 Hart Lane Austin, Texas 78731

Dear Mrs. Wukasch:

The staff has recently informed me of Martin's~recent death.

They have also provided me with a copy of the Memorial Resolution of the Texas Board of Health.

Martin's many years of contributions to the field of radiation protection are well known to us and his many colleagues cnd his contributions to several professional organizations were significant.

Martin's relationship with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission was I

always characterized by a most sincere desire to maintain Federal--

State relations in a most constructive manner.

We will miss him as a friend as well as a colleague.

I extend my sincere sympathy to you and your family at Martin's sudden passing.

incerely, hE

( Joseph M. Hendrie N
