Dear Marvin:
i Your planned retirement presents me with the opportunity to let you know personally that your dedicated Government service of nearly 22 years is greatly appreciated by the Commission and by all your associates.
Your performance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Atomic Energy Commission before it has been outstanding and i
most beneficial to the accomplishment of the regulatory and adjudi-catory missions of both agencies.
Your contributions to the licensing program of the Atomic Energy Commission as Assistant Director for Compliance, Division of Inspec-tion, and Assistant Director of Regulation for Nuclear Safety helped significantly to build the foundation upon which our present progra.a is based.
In the two years when you were away from the AEC, you managed the Savannah Nuclear Power Division of the New York Ship-building Corporation where you were responsible for the organization and operation of the test program for the NS SAVANNAH, the world's first nuclear powered cargo-passenger ship.
Your efforts as Techni-cal Advisor to the ASLBP have been invaluable, as has been your participation in a number of its most important and complex proceed-ings as'a Board Member.
My. fellow Commissioners and I and all of your associates wish you the very best as you retire from Government service, and again, we thank you for a job well done.
- incerely, I
Josep M M. Hendrie n
