Dear Mr. Denton:

SHOW CAUSE MODIFICATION COMPLETION SCHEDULE REVISION SURRY UNIT 1 Vepco's letter Serial No.1158, dated December 21, 1979, submitted in accor-dance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Order of August 22, 1979, stated that all modifications identified as a result of the August 22 Order would be completed by February 1,1980 and any nonconformances would be reported as required by the Technical Specification and the August 22 Order.

Installation is in progress for eight remaining modifications, however, they will not be completed by February 1,1980. The eight modifications are on compo-nent cooling lines, which are not required for safe shutdown. These modifications will be completed by February 15, 1980. We are continuing our evaluation of the neci for these modifications but will not defer installation of any modification, whether or not required for short tem operability, in order to continue to assure the highest possible confidence level in the Surry piping systems.
