MR. BRIAN K. GRIMES Docket No.30-312, Evacuation Tine Estimates for Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station Unit ::o. 1 Gentlenen:
In a November 29, 1979 letter frea Brian K. Grimes to all power reactor licenses, we were directed to submit by January 31, 1950 information on the time required to implement an evacuation of the public in the area around Rancho Seco 'suclear Generating Station Unit.4 0. 1.
In attempting to respond to that request, the Sacramento !unici-pal Utility District (3:!UD) enlisted the services of the Center for Plan-ning and Research, Inc. (CPR) of Palo Alto, California.
The results of their ef forts are contained in the enclosed report entitled, " Evacuation Time Estimates for Areas a' ear Rancho Seco Pcuer Plant".
This report was written to comply with specific guidance contained in your.:cvember 29th letter.
Because of the cxtremely limited time frer.e allcred to respcnd, SMUD was unable to obtain the required agreement / disagreement letters from the local and state agencies directly affected by the CPR report.
Repre-sentatives of Sacramento, Amador and San Joaquin Counties as well as the California Of fice of Emergency Services are currently reviewing copies of the report as submitted.
We expect their aritten responses by no later than February 13, 1980.
Upon receipt of all the responses from the above named agencies, we will forward them to you in a timely manner for inclusion in Appendix 3 of the CPR report.
