Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334 License No. DPR-66 Response to IE Bulletin 79-28

Dear Mr. Grier:

We have reviewed IE Bulletin 79-28 concerning the installation of NAMC0 EA-lo0 limit switches equipped with top cover gaskets which potentially can malfunction due to continuous exposure to elevated temperatures. At Beaver Valley several NAMCO EA-180 switches were installed in accordance with the requirement of IE Bulletin 78-04.

Included in Table I (attached) is a listing of all safety related equipment on which the subject switches are installed. In each case the antches are in containment installed on safety related valves and serve as valve position indicating circuitry. Serial numbers on the conduit boss of each switch housing have been visually observed and show the four digit number to be 08-78. This same number aopears on the NAMCO limit switches which are in stock.

Stores and Station Maintenance personnel have been alerted of the potential problems with NAMCO EA-180 switches fabricated between 02-79 and 08-79 and have been instructed to not receive or instail NAMCO limit switches of this vintage.

We are presently in full compliance with the requirements of the reference bulletin and no further corrective action is required.

Very truly yours, O t,/ ((.
