Docket No. STN 50-437 Gentlemen:

The Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) has decided to postpone its discussion of the Applicant's proposed core ladle design in the captioned pro-ceeding from its February session to the full committee meeting to be held during the first week in March.

In anticipation of that meeting, the Staff will issue, within the next two weeks, Supplement #3 to the Safety Evaluation Report (SER), which will cover the Staff's analysit, of the proposed core ladle design.

As indicated in our letter to the Board of January 3,1980, this Supplement to the SER will serve as a basis for the discussion with the ACRS.

We wish to emphasize once again that at least one further supplement must be prepared by the Staff to deal with the outstanding review matters set forth in the attachment to our letter to the Board of October 11, 1979.

We will continue to advise the Board on the 30th of each month regarding the progress of the FNP review.
