This letter is in response to IE Bulletin 79-28, forwarded to us on December 7, 1979 concerning the p os sible malfunction of NAMCO Model EA 180 limit switches at elevated temperatures.
The
" Actions to Be Taken by Licensees" and our response are treated sequentially.

Determine if your facility has installed or plans to install NAMCO EA 180 switches in any safety-related equipment located inside or outside containment, including valve p osition indicating circuitry related to containment isolation valves.

Response
NAMCO EA 180 switches have not been installed and there are no plans to install them in safety-related equipment. 2. If such switches are identified, examine the f ou r digit number stamp ed on the conduit boss of the switch housing. If this number falls between 02-79 and 08-79, replace the t op gasket of the switch in accordance with 60020105 50
