Ventilating, Inc. has been notified by ITT General Controls, Glendale, California, under para. 21.21 of 10 CFR 21 Federal Register Vol. 42, No. 108 of the existence of a def ect in a certain spring in some XH91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96 and 98 Milliampere Hydramotor A ctuat ors.
The nature of the defect, as advised by ITT is that one certain spring, ITT part No. 17443A, used in some NH91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96 and 98 Mil 11 ampere Hydramotor Actuators has been di.scovered to be manu-f actured from an incorrect material.
It does not possess the designed' strength and will, upon actuation

of a greater than 3" stroke take a permanent set.
This results in a decreased force output of approximatel" 160# at all compressed positions.
When these afort mentioned actuators are subjected to an electrical input control signal of zero, the actuator output does not develope the published force when the output shaft
