SUBJECT:
FORT CALHOUN, UNIT NO. 1, OMAHA PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT (0 PPD), STRETCH POWER REQUEST By letter dated July 15, 1979, as supplemented by letters dated October 30 and December 4, 1979, OPPD requested authorization to increase the power level at Fort Calhoun from 1420 MWT to 1500 MWT.
Responses to our questions to OPPD dated December 28, 1979, are still outstanding.
As part of our review, we are considering OPPD's past capability to safely operate Fort Calhoun, Unit No.1.
In this regard, we request that 0I&E evaluate the past management perfonnance of OPPD and provide a discussion of any outstanding inspection items that relate to stretch power operation.
We have determined that we would need the OI&E evaluation by March 15, 1980, to be consistant with our review schedule.
