Gentlemen:
Haddam Neck Plant Containment Isolation In Reference (1), Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCO) submitted a response to the order to show cause issued by Reference (2) by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to CYAPCO.
Should the Commission determine that Reference (1)
's not sufficient to justify operation of the Haddam Neck Plant beyond J auary 31, 1980, we hereby request that a hearing be conducted on this matter pursuant to Section 2.202 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
Because of the importance of this matter to the Company, its shareholders, and to the citizens and consumers of New England, we request that this hearing te held before any action is taken by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission under the order to show cause.
In order to permit the licensee to pursue appropriate administrative and legal remedies, we request either a favorable response to Ref erence (1) or a response to our request for a hearing by January 28, 1960.
