Dear Congressman Davis,

I am writing for assistance in a matter which may have detrimental effects on the very lives of all citizens living in Northern Michigan.

Consumers Power has announced it's plans to cut it's Big Rock Point Nuclear Power Plant back on line in mid-October.

Qualified opconents to the nuclear issue have called Big Rock the most dancerous nticlear power clant in the country.

"he Southwest Research Grouc of New Mexico has named Big Rock as THE most dangerous nuke in the country and the Union of Concerned Scientists has called i one of the ten most dangerous.

Big Rock is one of *,he oldest ocerating nukes in the country, this alone could be cause for concern.

Also of concern is the fact tha+ Big Rock is exemet frc::r and does not meet the minimal '72 safety standards for reactors and falls way short of meeting the stricter '?6 safety standards imposed by the N.R.C.

13 years aco this October, the Fermi i Nuclear Power plant, operated by Detroit Edison suffered a partial meltdown. This incident was so severe that it can be summed up that we almost lost Detroit. It would be a horrible and tracic secuel to this incident that 13 years later i-could hapcen again,' this' time at Charlevoix. Maybe this time we won't be so lucky.

Please help us stop the chance of such an occurance, any assistance er feedback on this matter would be creatly accrecia ed.

Sincerely yours, A28P
