REQUEST FOR EXTENSION TO NRR LETTER TO ALL OPERATING LIGHT WATER REACTORS DATED NOVEMBER 9, 1979 SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NO. 1 DOCKET NO. 50-272 We are presently evaluating the fuel cladding strain and fuel assembly flow blockage models applicable to Salem Unit No. 1 against the models and information supplied in your letters dated November 9, 1979 and November 27, 1979.

An integral part of our evaluation is the result of an analysis which Westinghouse expects to supply to us by January 11, 1980.

Accordingly we request an extension of our response due date from January 7, 1980 until January 21, 1980.

NRR was informed of this via telecon between Mr. G.

Smith of Public Service Electric and Gas Company and Mr. Paul Check, Chief, Reactor Safety Branch, on January 2, 1980.
