Arkansas Nuclear One - Units 1 & 2 Docket Nos. 50-313 and 50-368 License Nos. DPR-51 and NPF-6 Supplemental Information to IE Bulletin 79-01A Response (File: 15f0.1 and 2-1510.1)

Gentlemen:

Our letter in response to IE Bulletin 79-01A dated July 13, 1979, stated that we do not use or intend to use any Automatic Switch Company (ASCO) solenoid valves of the type discussed in that Bulletin. Subsequent to that response further investigation revealed that we do use and have in storage ASCO solenoid valves which contain Buna "N" material. However, none of these solenoid valves are used, or intended to be used inside containment in systems required to function during or after an accident.

We have noted in a print of an Anchor gate valve that Buna "N" (American Asbestos

  1. 6) was specified for its "0" rings. This particular valve is used outside the Reactor Building at ANO-1 and will not be exposed to high radiation levels during or after an accident.

Very truly yours, bU $. f David C. Trimble Manager, Licensing DCT:DEJ:pw cc: Mr. W. D. Johnson '692 24I I
