Gentlemen:
IE Bulletin 79-18 requires Licensees to detemine if present alarm systems are clearly audible or visible throughout all plant areas with special em-phasis on high-noise areas. To determine this, inspections of the facili-ties must be made while the units are operating. The inspection of ANO-2 was scheduled for the week of September 9,1979, but due to a condenser problem the unit was shutdown during that time. ANO-2 is now expected to reach 50 percent power by September 22, 1979. At that time an inspection will be conducted to determine if there are any areas where the alams can-not be acknowledged. As was discussed with our ISE site inspector we ex-pect to have our complete reply for both ANO-1 and 2 to you as soon after the 50 percent power level is reached as possible. At this tive our scheduled date for response is October 10, 1979. If we are unable to meet this schedule due to an unforeseen plant outage we will contact you promptly, Very truly yours, O /---
