On December 12, 1979, NRC staff members met with Messrs. Robert Bailey, Paul Newsone, and San McGahey of your staff and discussed the archeological and historic aspects 3f operation of the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station and construction of an associated transmission line:

the Ray Braswell line.

On December 13, we discussed archeological aspects with Mr. Sam Brookes, also of your staff.

In accordance with Title 36, Part 800, of the Code of Federal Regulations, v.j this letter is a request for your recommendation as to the need for a

~ 11 survey of historic and cultural properties, and recomendations as to the type of survey, survey methods and survey boundaries, if you recommend

a survey. Enclosed are maps showing the locations of the site and the UK Ray Braswell line. The center line and tower locations for the Ray Braswell

corridor have been delineated by the Mississippi Power and Light Company.

Since we need to perform our review in a timely manner, we would appreciate receiving your recommendations by January 31, 1979.
