SUBJECT:
DAIRYLAND POWER COOPERATIVE LA CROSSE BOILING UATER REACTOR (LACBWR)
PROVISIONAL OPERATING LICENSE NO. DPR-45 SUBMITTAL OF INFORMATION - LACBWR FES
Dear Mr. Vaslow:
Pursuant to our telephone conversation last week, I verified the chemical additions to our component cooling water systems at LACBWR.
During 1979, 800 grams of ::g 800 grams of K2Cr2 7 and 11 Kg of Na2CrO4 were added
- CrO4, 0
to the component cooling water systems to make up for losses due to maintenance and leaks in the systems.
Heating boiler chemicals added during 1979 totalled 56.1 liters of Morphaline and 3.7 liters of Hydrazine.
In reviewing the information which you had previously noted in Section 3.7.1, the chemical additions to the systems are slightly different than the 1971 data.
As discussed, we administratively control the discharge concentration of Chromium to less than.005 ppm.
Additionally, you requested information on monitoring wells at our Genoa site.
As I discussed with you, we do monitor ground water around our Genoa #3 coal pile and ash disposal lagoon.
The data that we have accumulated over the past years is shown on the attached reporting log.
The moni-toring wells are located as indicated on the drawing.
For reference purposes, these wells are at the south end of our site and a considerable distance frem the Genoa il ash dis-posal lagoon.
I don't really know if you can use this infor-mation.
We do not have any monitoring wells near the Genoa
- 1 ash disposal lagoon.
In my December 12th letter to Mr. Ballard, in response to questions which were sent to us in the November 16, 1979 letter, we did not have the purchase power costs available p

N,
'4 Mr. Fred Vaslow December 28, 1979 at the time of that submittal.
Since that time we have been able to determine the purchase power costs during 1977, 1978 and through October 1979.
These costs are as follows:
1977 16.7 mills /kWh 1978 28.0 1979 (through Oct. '79) 27.3 It should be explained that these costs are for pur-chasing energy in the Power Pool for scheduled outages or emergencies.
There are no demand charges in these rates and, hence, they are comparable to the fuel, operation, and mainten-ance costs transmitted to Mr. Ballard in the December 12th letter.
If you have any further questicas on this, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Yours truly, DAIRYLMD POWER CCCPERATIVE
