20555 RE: Zion Nuclear Power Plants Units 1 and 2 - Fire Protection Review Items 3.1.5 and 3.2.2
Dear Bob:
The licensee en September 29, 1978 and April 9, 1979 submitted information on 3.1.5 Fire Water System modification. The information was reviewed and the design modification found acceptable.
On July 11, 1978 the licensee submitted results of IEEE 383-1974 fire tests on their Boston Insulated Wire and Cable Company cabling. The results of the Boston Edison's test show that Zion 1 & 2 electrical cabling meets the burning characteristics to pass the IEEE test. This submittal closes item 3.2.2 Electrical Cable Tests. Verbal approval was given to NRC within a week or two after receipt of information. A letter was written to the utility by NRC accepting the test results.
These items are part of Mr. Antonetti's " catch-up" items. They are scheduled to be completed by Brookhaven National Laboratory by January 7, 1980.
