Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit I (TMI-1)
Docket No. 50-289 License No. DPR-50 Degraded Grid Voltage In our response (letter GQL 1470 December 10,1979) to your letter of August 14, 1979, we did not include the response to item 3 but stated that the response would be completed by December 21, 1979. However, following the submittal of our response (GQL 1470), a telephone conference call was held between NRC, Met-Ed and GPU.
As a result of this telephone call the induction motor undervoltage relays will be replaced with solid state relays. These relays will be installed prior to restart.
Since the information requested in item 3 depends upon the relay design, this information cannot be provided by December 21, 1979 as anticipated. Consequently, the response to item 3 will be submitted prior to the restart of TMI-I or April 1,1980, whichever is sooner.
