Category A Lessons Learned The purpose of this letter is to inform you that Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company intends to shut down for refueling on January 11, 1980, and is scheduled for restart on March 1, 1980. All the Category A Lessons Learned items, as detailed in Reference (b), will be implemented before the plant returns to power operation, with the exception of item 2.1.7.a, discussed below.

This is to confirm that, based upon verbal discussions with your staff, we intend to handle item 2.1.7.a separately as directed by the Bulletins and Orders Task Force. Furthermore, we wish to document that, based on verbal discussions, our proposed alternative to item 2.1. I as detailed in reference (c), has been accepted by your staff.
