This letter is in response to the notice of violation received as a result of inspections conducted at this f acility during the period September 29 to October 26, 1979.
A.
All personnel working at the site, both PSC and contractor, have been advised by letter to report any inadvertent damage to valve seals, conduit, controls, etc. immediately, so that any required repairs can be undertaken without delay. This will aid in main-taining valve seals intact.
Those valves found closed will be added to the sealed valve list so that any operation will be readily apparent.
In addition to the three valves in question, other valves may be added to the sealed valve list as a result of an evaluation of function to be initiated.
B.
The recorder for the "FING" monitor has been repaired and is in service.
To ensure its continued operability it has been added to an operations survey.
Health Physics personnel, who also check the recorder, have been advised to use an "out of service" tag to indicate recorder inoperability.
We believe these actions will prevent further occurrences of this type.
