PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION May 29, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-51 This oreliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

B0MB THREAT Cn "ay 26, 1979, at approximately 11:06 p.m., a telephone call was received at UNC by a member of the security force from an unidentified male, who stated; "I have planted a bomb there." No production personnel were working; the site was occupied only by security force personnel.
Search procedures were initiated with negative results.
However, the plant was placed on a twelve (12) hour security alert.
The Rhode Island State Police were notified and responded to the site.
The FBI was notified through the Rhode Island State Police.
Media interest is expected.
The State of Rhode Island has been informed.
A press release is not planned by the licensee or NRC.
IRC, Region I, (Philadelphia) received notification of this occurrence by telechone call from licensee at 1:50 a.m., May 27,1979.
