PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION April 16, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-35 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest sianificance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

On April 13,1979, at 6:35 p.m. PST, an unknown male called the Sheriff's Department in San Luis Obispo'and gave the following message:
"At 9:00 o' clock a bomb will go off at Diablo" (a.m. or p.m. unknown).
The licensee was advised and conducted a search of the facility with negative results. Contractors were advised and given the option of leaving the site or continuing to work. Media interest is not expected by the licensee, and no press release is planned.
The State of California has been notified.
The IAT has been notified.
NRC, Region V (San Francisco) received telephone notification from the licensee at 6:45 p.m. PST on April 13, 1979.
