PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-31 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.
Facility: Commonwealth Edison Company LaSalle County Station, Brookfield Township LaSalle County, Illinois (DN's 50-373,50-374)

B0MB THREAT At 1:50 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 1979, an anonymous telephone call was received by a member of the Operations Staff at the site from a male caller who said, "There's a bomb in the plant." He hung up without indicating the time of detonation or a specific location in the plant.
A few moments later the same' caller again contacted the Operations Supervisor and repeated the same message.
The Operations Supervisor alerted the Commonwealth Edison Corporate Office and the local law enforcement agency.
The site buildings were searched with negati e results and no evacuation was made.
v The site construction progress is currently reported as 81% complete.
There is no fuel onsite.
There has been no known media interest in the event and no press release is planned by NRC or the licensee.
The State of Illinois has been notified.
The IAT has been notified.
NRC, Region III (Illinois) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the licensee at 10:10 a.m. on April 9,1979.
