Dear Ms. Wezelman:

This is in response to your letter dated November 28, 1979 in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, copies of all memoranda, briefs, reports, correspondence, and other documents related to rules, regulations and standards governing safety of underground uranium miners in effect from 1957-1977 and information regarding exposure of Navajo uranium miners to excessive amounts of radon daughters in the Kerr-McGee mining operations in Cove, Arizona from 1957-1965.

In response to your request, neither the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), or its predecessor, the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), has ever been involved with the regulation of underground mining activities.

Therefore, the NRC has no documents subject to your request.
