Wisconsin Elecinc eoaca coup:sr 231 W. MICHICAN, P.o. BOX 2046, MILWAUKEE, WI 53201 December 6,1979 Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U. S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION Washington, D. C.

20555 Attention: Mr. W. P. Gammill, Acting Assistant Director for Operating Reactor Projects Gentlemen:

DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 NRC STAFF TRAINING IN RADIATION SAFETY POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 We have reviewed your letter Jated October 2,1979, regarding the course in radiation safety which has been developed for NRC Staff members so that they may be certified for entry into restricted areas of NRC licensed facilities. Based on the limited information supplied with your letter, it appears that this radiation safety course will be acceptable in lieu of similar training at our facility. We wish to point out, however, that in addition to the general subjects mentioned in your letter, we consider that it is appropriate to discuss specific features of the radiation safety program at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant. Such topics include plant specific check-point procedures and location of radiation areas. These topics are covered in a short site indcctrination briefing and will not unreasonably delay inspector access to our facility.

Very truly yours, C. W. Fay, Director Nuclear Power Department f0W S
