October h, 1979 RBG - 6772 File G9.5 Mr. Karl V. Seyfrit, Director Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region IV 611 Ryan Plaza Drive Suite 1000 Arlington, TX 76011

Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

River Bend Station Refer to: RIV Docket Hos. 50 h58/I&E Palletin 79-11 50 h59/I&E Bulletin 79-11 In response to your letter of May 22, 1979, we have conducted an examination of the River Bend design to determine our actual and potential use of the Westinghouse DB-50 or DB-75 circuit breakers with the faulty overcurrent trip device. We utilize General Electric AKR-30 type power circuit breakers in our design and do not use the Westinghouse DB-50 or DB-75 circuit breakers. Furthermore, we will not employ Westinghouse DB-50 or DB-75 circuit breakers with the faulty overcurrent trip device in any future safe'y system designs. Therefore, the maintenance program as described in the bulletin for these circuit breakers is not applicable to our plant.

This completes our response to ILE Bulletin 79-11.

Sincerely, 1
