South Texas Project Units 1 & 2 Docket tios. STf! 50-498, STri 50-499 IE Bulletin fio. 79-03 Bulletin fio. 79-03, received March 14, 1979, has been reviewed by Houston Lighting & Power Company.
Only one instance has been found in which the material in question was used at the South Texas Project.
Pipe manufactured by Youngstown Welding and Engineering Co. has been used fer the seal ring on the 250 gpm filters supplied by Pall Trinity Micro Corporation.
Accordingly, the seal ring longitudinal seam was radiographed at Pall Trinity using approved RT Procedures and was found acceptable per ASME Code Standards. flote that the operating stress in the filter is 25% of the design allowable stress. These filters are considered to be acceptable.
In order to preclude the inadvertent use of the material in ques-tion, HL&P surveillance personnel will assure that the vendor does not include it with equipment shipped from their facility.
Furthermore, HL&P will be notified by Westinghouse if any such material is note in their equipment and of any program considered necessary for recertifi-cation of the material.
